The veteran tactician was warmly welcomed at Kotoka International Airport on Wednesday evening. He plans to stay at a local hotel before addressing the press at a conference scheduled for Thursday afternoon at the Alisa Hotel. Appointment and Expectations The Ghana Football Association's Executive Council, in collaboration with key stakeholders, announced Queiroz's appointment last week. He steps into the role previously held by Otto Addo, with the significant task of leading the team through their campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Queiroz's Impressive Track Record Carlos Queiroz brings a wealth of experience to the Black Stars. His impressive resume includes managing high-profile teams like Real Madrid and serving as an assistant at Manchester United. Additionally, he has coached national teams such as Portugal and Iran. His extensive World Cup experience is notable, having led South Africa to World Cup qualification in 2002, guiding Portugal to the knockout phase in 2010, and managing Iran in both the 2014 and 2018 tournaments. Looking Ahead While Queiroz arrives with a strong resume and high hopes, sources suggest that there is no immediate pressure on him as he embarks on his journey to lead Ghana to the 2026 World Cup. The emphasis will be on building a competitive team capable of performing on the global stage come June. The Ghanaian football community is optimistic about Queiroz's leadership and the potential success he can bring to the national team. Fans and stakeholders alike are keen to see how his experience will translate into success for the Black Stars.
