Jim Thwaites has made his first England outing, coming on as a substitute for the Under-20s in a fine 2-1 win against France.

The Manchester United midfielder was rewarded for his progress with a call-up by coach Darren Moore, his first for his country.

Coming off the bench in the 77th minute to replace Southampton's Jack Robinson, it must have been a special moment for the 19-year-old.

Ayden Heaven and Shea Lacey started for the young Lions, with the latter in the XI on the back of a brilliant goal in the 3-1 victory against Italy last time out.

Shea Lacey scored in the win over Italy Under-20s.

Jack Fletcher was also introduced as a substitute, in the 60th minute, at the same time as Lacey made way for Everton's Harrison Armstrong.

Shumaira Mheuka and skipper Mikey Moore scored in the first half of the victory over France in Spain. Prosper Peter's penalty reduced the deficit.

Heaven and Fletcher were booked in a competitive encounter, with Harry Amass remaining on the bench.

There is one match remaining for Moore's side, with Germany providing the opposition on Saturday.
