Women's Player of the Month vote opens

2026-10-02

The vote is now open to crown this season's first Manchester United Women Player of the Month.

The vote is now open to crown this season's first Manchester United Women Player of the Month.

Under new head coach Eva Olid, the Reds played six times in September across the Barclays Women's Super League and Subway Players Cup.

After a challenging start with WSL defeats to London City Lionesses and Chelsea, United really began building some momentum after a 1-1 draw away to Arsenal in the league, which we were only seconds away from winning but for a stoppage-time equaliser from the Gunners.

Olid's team have since beaten Sheffield United and Durham in the new Players Cup league phase, either side of registering a maiden WSL win under our Catalan coach, against West Ham United.

The Reds kick off October with a final game before the upcoming international break on Saturday, at home to Liverpool, but before that we have opened the poll to name your Player of the Month for September.

New signings Rebeca Bernal and Andrea Medina are among the four nominees that you can opt for, after an impactful start to their United careers. Bernal's experience was felt in a second-half cameo away to Arsenal, and the Mexico captain has since gone on to score three times and register an assist across her starts against Sheffield United and Durham, marking her first inclusion in our XI with a brace against the former.

Medina, meanwhile, has started all four of our league outings – twice in a relatively unfamiliar left-wing role. It is from that more advanced position that the defender scored her first United goal, against West Ham, en route to winning a second successive Player of the Match award after also being voted our star performer at Arsenal.

Defender Hanna Lundkvist officially arrived at the club in January and is also nominated for the first time, after a stellar month at right-back in which she was one of only three players – alongside captain Maya Le Tissier and Le Tissier's central-defensive partner Dominique Janssen – to start each of our last five matches. The former San Diego Wave star has stood out at the start of her first full season in Manchester, flying up and down the flank and having an influence at both ends of the pitch.

Academy graduate Mared Griffiths is also shortlisted after scoring four goals, including a hat-trick in the 10-1 victory over Sheffield United on her first senior start. The 19-year-old Wales international also teed up Ella Toone's effort that night, marked her second start with a goal at Durham and can look back on September fondly, having also made her WSL debut as a second-half substitute away to Arsenal.

CAST YOUR VOTE

You can now have your say in the poll above, and we'll announce the winner next week, after October's opener against Liverpool.

Good luck to Andrea, Hanna, Mared and Rebeca!

We have also opened the vote for September's Goal of the Month, with eight strikes shortlisted here.
