'She loved us singing her new song to her!'

Monica Jusu Bah scored her first goal for Manchester United Women on Wednesday night and was subsequently named our Player of the Match, after the 5-1 win at Durham.

The summer signing from BK Hacken provided a threat from our right flank throughout her 82-minute performance, and opened her Reds account by putting Eva Olid's side 3-1 up in the second half.

After Rebeca Bernal's first-half opener and Lucy Watson's equaliser eight minutes later for Durham, it was Jusu Bah who was fouled for the free-kick that Dominique Janssen restored our advantage with after the break.

The Sweden international, recently called up for her nation's upcoming FIFA World Cup play-off, was brought down on that occasion but couldn't be stopped as she found the net in the 68th minute. Our no.23 weaved inside from the right and kept her head over the ball, maintaining the balance required to strike it inside the near post on her left foot.

That effort was a reward for another dynamic performance from the winger, who impressed upon starting last Wednesday's 10-1 win at home to Sheffield United, even if she didn't register a direct goal involvement that time around.

Bernal, who assisted Jusu Bah's strike after her earlier opener, was a close runner-up in the Player of the Match poll which was decided by fans voting in the United App and on ManUtd.com.

Monica accumulated 20 per cent of the selections from supporters, while Rebeca finished just behind with 18 per cent. Captain Maya Le Tissier (16 per cent) also wasn't too far off Jusu Bah, with goalscorers Mared Griffiths (12 per cent) – who netted our fourth of the night – and Janssen (10 per cent) also well-recognised by fans.
