Baleba gets first taste of United action

Carlos Baleba played in a behind-closed-doors friendly for Manchester United on Friday, as he works towards making his competitive debut for the club.

Our summer signing from Brighton & Hove Albion took part in a fixture against Swiss side Lausanne-Sport, held at Carrington.

Head coach Michael Carrick told club media recently that Baleba was “pushing to get back as quickly as possible” from an injury he arrived at the club with.

The midfielder was subsequently involved in our matchday squad for the first time at Fulham, for the 1-1 draw just before the ongoing international break, as an unused substitute.

Carlos has since continued building his fitness behind the scenes and has now got his first minutes in a United kit, ahead of the Reds' return to action next Saturday, with Tottenham Hotspur's visit in the Premier League.

Baleba and several fellow members of the first-team squad, who are not away with their countries, featured alongside a good number of our talented Academy players, with the youngsters gaining more beneficial experience.

Our pictures from the match show the likes of Harry Maguire and Matheus Cunha in action.

Young Reds midfielder Sekou Kone, on loan at Lausanne, was welcomed back to Carrington alongside United Academy graduate Tyler Fredricson, who completed a permanent move between the clubs in the summer. They were able to catch up with some familiar faces during the trip to Manchester.

Lausanne are set to continue their Swiss Super League season with an away game against St. Gallen next Sunday.
