Phallon voted Player of the Match

Phallon Tullis-Joyce has been voted Manchester United Women's Player of the Match following our win against Liverpool.

Phallon Tullis-Joyce has been voted Manchester United Women's Player of the Match following our win against Liverpool.
The 1-0 victory in the Barclays Women's Super League was our first clean sheet of the new campaign and the shot-stopper certainly had to work to keep it that way.
Having taken the lead early in the first half through Julia Zigiotti, Tullis-Joyce was on hand to make no less than eight saves, the most in a single game by a United goalkeeper in the WSL, according to Opta.
And they were high-quality chances, too, with our no.91 having kept the visitors out in the face of an xG of 1.47.
Perhaps the US international's best moment was a reactive double save in the first half, denying Cornelia Kapocs' initial curling effort, before scrambling back to her feet to keep out Beata Olsson from close range on the rebound.

In our fan poll, Phallon took just over 46 per cent of the vote, making her a deserving winner of the award.
Just behind her was goalscorer Zigiotti, who pounced on a loose Khiara Keating ball and expertly lofted her effort over the head of the Liverpool goalkeeper in the sixth minute, providing us with the lead that we held on to until the final whistle.
The Swede was also a strong presence in the middle of the pitch throughout the rest of the game, winning eight aerial duels and making three defensive contributions.
She scooped the WSL's Player of the Match award after the game, but couldn't quite nudge Phallon off top spot in the minds of our supporters.
Congratulations, Phallon! Thank you to everyone who voted.
