Joshua Zirkzee scored his second international goal, the winner in the Netherlands' 2-1 victory over Serbia in the UEFA Nations League.

The Manchester United forward came off the bench for the start of the second half and added to his previous strike for his country, which came against Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2024.

A well-worked move culminated in Zirkzee tapping home from a Tijjani Reijnders cross from close range, in the 72nd minute.

Earlier, Mihajlo Cvetkovic's header had levelled a Teun Koopmeiners free-kick, as the hosts in Eindhoven extended their unbeaten run under new coach Xavi.

Bruno Fernandes captained his nation and one of his outrageously incisive passes, to Nuno Mendes, went viral on social media afterwards.

The teams exchanged cracking strikes, through Kristoffer Ajer and Joao Cancelo, before Goncalo Ramos maintained his fine form with the winner.

Fernandes picked up a late booking and was substituted soon afterwards, while Diogo Dalot replaced Cancelo in the 62nd minute.

Portugal are the first team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition but Francisco Conceicao was sent off for dissent in the closing stages.

Also over the weekend, Bryan Mbeumo helped Cameroon defeat Ivory Coast 1-0, Andrey Santos played for an hour of Brazil's 4-0 friendly win over India and Noussair Mazraoui was not involved as Morocco had a hastily arranged friendly with Mali that they drew 1-1.

Meanwhile, England Under-20s made it three victories out of three by defeating Germany 2-1. Jack Fletcher was shown a red card for a high challenge just before half-time, while Harry Amass, Ayden Heaven and Shea Lacey also started. Jim Thwaites replaced Lacey at the interval.

There could be United men in direct opposition on Monday night.

Belgium, featuring Senne Lammens, are away to France, with Leny Yoro still eagerly awaiting a maiden senior cap for Les Bleus, who are without suspended centre-back Dayot Upamecano.
