Calm, ball-playing midfielder

Charlie has spent his whole youth career at Manchester City, having signed at the Club at Under-9s and progressed to be a scholar.

A calming presence in the centre of midfield with a excellent range of passing, Gray tested himself at Under-18s level in 2022/23, totalling 12 appearances before 19 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign.

This included 90 minutes in City's FA Youth Cup final win over Leeds United at the Etihad.

Throughout the 2024/25 season, Gray was an instrumental player as City's EDS won the PL2 title.

The holding midfielder played 20 league games, as well as seven of eight UEFA Youth League games, and constantly impressed with his scanning, positioning and link-up play.

Gray was once again part of the EDS for the 2025/26 season. He made 20 appearances across all competitions which included his senior debut for the Club.

He featured as a second half substitute in City's 2-0 Carabao Cup quarter-final win over Brentford at the Etihad.

Another highlight of Gray's campaign was his free-kick goal in our emphatic 4-0 UEFA Youth League triumph at Real Madrid in another impressive term for the hard-working midfielder.

He will now spend the 2026/27 season on loan at League One side Wigan Athletic.
