Lopetegui Reflects on Gulf Cup Exit

Qatar head coach Julen Lopetegui expressed disappointment following his side’s penalty shootout defeat to Saudi Arabia in the Arabian Gulf Cup semifinals. Despite the loss, Lopetegui praised the fighting spirit of his players and acknowledged Saudi Arabia as the tournament's strongest side.

The coach defended his team's conservative tactical approach, citing squad exhaustion and challenging weather conditions as primary factors. Saudi Arabia, having navigated the scoreless draw and subsequent shootout, will advance to the final to face either Oman or the United Arab Emirates.
