Asante Kotoko Secure First Win of the Season Against Heart of Lions

Asante Kotoko registered their first win of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season by defeating Heart of Lions 2-1 in Kumasi. Emmanuel Mamah opened the scoring in the 27th minute, followed by Isaac Opoku Agyemang, who doubled the lead in the 62nd minute. Despite a late penalty goal from Francis Odoom and a red card for Hamaid Fuseini, Kotoko held onto their lead.

This victory provides a boost for coach Eric Tinkler, who has sought to turn the Baba Yara Stadium into a fortress after an opening-day draw against Debibi United. The result snaps Heart of Lions' six-match unbeaten streak against Kotoko. Kotoko will next travel to face Samartex, while Heart of Lions prepare to host Swedru All Blacks.
