Government Plans Construction of Ten New Stadia

President John Dramani Mahama announced plans to fund ten new multi-purpose stadia across various regions in the upcoming budget.

President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed that the government intends to construct 10 new stadia to improve national sporting infrastructure [L13]. During a meeting with representatives from Medeama, Nations FC, and Ampem Darkoa Ladies, the President explained that the Ministry of Finance has made budgetary allocations for these projects [L13].

The new facilities will be built in regions including Oti, Ahafo, and Savannah, with the Ho Sports Stadium slated for a complete refurbishment [L13]. These stadia are intended to support various sports beyond football, featuring athletics tracks and facilities for disciplines such as basketball and volleyball [L13]. The President emphasized that the government is committed to providing quality sporting venues across all regions [L13].
