B TEAM SUFFER DEFEAT TO SPORTING CP
2026-09-30
Nottingham Forest’s B Team were beaten 4-2 against Sporting CP in their opening game of the Premier League International Cup. Dylan Malicheff’s side made the dream start when Spencer Sutton converted first-time from Kristian Clarke’s cross in the eighth minute. Despite Sporting CP having more of the ball, the Reds were dangerous on the attack and punished the visitors once again. It was a carbon copy of the opening goal, with Clarke once again driving to the byline before finding Sutton in the box who made no mistake. Forest seemed to be cruising their way to the break with a two-goal advantage, but Sporting CP pulled one back in the 43rd minute. Malicheff’s side came out battling hard in the second period in search of fifth victory of the season. Forest had chances to get their third of the night, with Clarke and Ethan Broomes both coming close on occasions. Sporting CP, however, found an equaliser with 10 minutes left on the clock, with Rafael Camacho the goalscorer. The Portuguese visitors completed the comeback in the 84th minute when Miguel Almeida’s strike found the far bottom corner. Sporting CP wrapped up victory in the 90th minute as Camacho found his second of the night. The young Reds now look ahead to a fixture with Peterborough U21s in the Premier League Cup.
