NOONAN TO JOIN FOREST IN JANUARY

2026-09-30

Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm Michael Noonan will join the Club in January 2027, signing from Shamrock Rovers. The 18-year-old has been a key part of the Shamrock Rovers team, which currently sit second in the League of Ireland, scoring eight times. The forward also featured in five of Shamrock’s European games this summer, across Champions League and Conference League qualifiers. It was in a European competition where Noonan made his mark, with a goal against Molde in February 2025 making him the youngest scorer in the Conference League’s history and second youngest in a UEFA club competition. On the international stage Noonan made history in September 2025, with his winning goal just after coming off the bench in a European Championship qualifier seeing him become the youngest ever scorer for the Republic of Ireland U21s. Noonan has signed a pre-agreement with the Club and will join from January 1st, 2027. Chief Football Officer, George Syrianos, said: “Michael is a player we, along with a number of other clubs, have followed closely for some time, so we're delighted he has chosen Nottingham Forest. “Recruiting high-potential young players is central to our long-term vision for the academy. We want the academy to be a genuine pathway to the first team, and that means bringing in the right talent early and giving them a clear, individual plan to get there. "Michael’s decision reflects the work Chris, Andy and everyone involved has put into developing and then sharing what that pathway looks like here. “We look forward to welcoming Michael and his family to Forest and to supporting his development in the years ahead.”
