Kwame Opoku double gives Bibiani Gold Stars 2-0 win over Basake Holy Stars

Kwame Opoku inspired Bibiani Gold Stars to their first home victory of the season, scoring twice to secure a win over Basake Holy Stars at Dun’s Park on Sunday.

The former Asante Kotoko forward broke the deadlock in the 40th minute before completing his brace in the 72nd minute to seal a crucial victory for the Miners.

Opoku has now taken his goal tally to three since joining Gold Stars, with his latest contribution proving vital as Petros Koukouras’ side climbed out of the relegation zone into 14th place with seven points.

Basake Holy Stars’ struggles at Dun’s Park continued, with the visitors still searching for their first victory at the venue. Abdulai Gazale’s men had been hoping to record back-to-back wins following their victory over Berekum Chelsea last weekend, but they were undone by a determined Gold Stars side.

Holy Stars will look to bounce back when they host Bechem United in their next fixture, while Gold Stars will hope to build on Sunday's victory when they travel to face debutants Debibi United.
