Former Black Stars assistant coach leaves Mons sixth in the table, with Frederik D’Hollander taking interim charge.

Former Black Stars assistant coach George Boateng has parted ways with Belgian outfit RAEC Mons.
The Dutch-Ghanaian trainer leaves after a tough start to the Belgium Division One league, where he won three and lost three out of seven matches.
The club announced the decision to part ways with the Ghanaian is as a result of a poor run of form.
"RAEC Mons announces the end of its collaboration with George Boateng, who is leaving his position as head coach of the first team. Despite his investment and daily commitment, the sporting results have not lived up to the club's expectations and ambitions," wrote the club.
"This decision reflects the desire to give the team a new impetus and to find a coach who can unite the entire club around its identity and ambitions.
RAEC Mons thanks George Boateng for his commitment and wishes him all the best for the rest of his career."
Frederik D'Hollander will takeover as interim manager until the club appoints a new permanent head coach.
Meanwhile, Boateng took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the club and fans as he leaves.
"All good things must come to an end, and as I bring my time at RAEC Mons to a close, I do so with immense gratitude, valuable lessons, and a stronger desire to continue developing and growing as a head coach," he wrote on social media.
"First and foremost, I would like to thank the players and my staff for their hard work, commitment, and dedication throughout our journey together. Thank you to the supporters for your incredible passion and support, and a special thank you to the owner, Peter Gould, for his trust, confidence, and outstanding support during my time at the club. I want to thank Charlie Methven, Simon Van Kerckhoven, Steven Deprez, Bernard Courcelles and our Honorary President Hubert Ewbank for their dedicated time and hard work.
Despite the poor start to the season, Boateng leaves with the club in 6th place, just six points behind leaders Meux.
He continued: "Our objectives for this season were clear: to win the league and reach the Round of 32 of the Croky Cup. I leave the club in the 6th position, firmly within the playoff places and just six points behind league leaders R.E.C. Meux. Furthermore, we have achieved our objective of reaching the last 32 of the Croky Cup, with the upcoming match against Sporting Charleroi representing another important moment for the club.
"Football is a journey full of challenges, experiences, and continuous learning. I leave RAEC Mons with valuable lessons that will contribute to my development as head coach, immense respect for the people I have worked with, and sincere appreciation for the opportunity I was given. I wish the players, staff, supporters and everyone connected with RAEC Mons every success for the future. I hope the club continues to progress, achieve its ambitions, and make the people of Mons proud. Until we meet again, I leave with gratitude, understanding, and the utmost respect for the club and the community of Mons. Merci pour tout."
Boateng was Ghana assistant coach at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast as the Black Stars failed to progress from the group stage.
