Ibrahim Tanko: unbeaten start boosts Medeama ahead of Heart of Lions clash

Medeama aim to maintain their unbeaten run when Heart of Lions visit the TnA Stadium on Sunday.

Medeama head coach Ibrahim Tanko says the club’s unbeaten start to the Ghana Premier League season has given his players a strong confidence boost ahead of Sunday’s clash with Heart of Lions.
The Tarkwa-based side have collected 11 points from their opening five matches and sit top of the league table after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Debibi United in their previous outing.
Tanko believes the team’s run of five matches without defeat has strengthened their belief, but he has warned his players against underestimating Heart of Lions.
“Very good feeling. When you play, I think, five games without a loss, definitely the confidence is high,” he said.
“But we are not taking much lightly. Hearts of Oak is a very, very good team that we have to be careful [against], but we are playing at home.”
Medeama will welcome Heart of Lions to the TnA Stadium on Sunday, October 11, with the hosts looking to maintain their unbeaten start and consolidate their position at the summit.
Heart of Lions, who are eighth with eight points, will provide another test for the league leaders as they seek to build on their impressive opening run.
Tanko says Medeama intend to make their home advantage count by taking control of the contest.
“We are playing at home. We want to control the game as much as possible. We want to keep our three points,” he added.
Medeama last faced Lions at home in May, winning 5-2.
