The three young talents in contention for an award that Barça have won in three of the last five seasons

Once again, Barça's young talents feature prominently among the candidates for the Golden Boy award. The 25 finalists have now been announced for the prize presented by Italian newspaper Tuttosport , in collaboration with Transfermarkt , to the world's best player under the age of 21. This time, Barça have three candidates: Pau Cubarsí , Marc Bernal and Xavi Espart .
There would surely have been a fourth in Lamine Yamal , but the rules prevent previous winners from winning again, and the Barça number 10 claimed the award in 2024. In fact, FC Barcelona have produced more winners than any other club, with four in total.
The first was Leo Messi in 2005, with the other three coming in the last five editions: Pedri in 2021, Gavi in 2022 and Lamine Yamal in 2024. Three other winners, Cesc Fàbregas (2006), Sergio Agüero (2007) and Joao Félix (2019), have also worn the Barça shirt.
With Cubarsí, Bernal and Xavi Espart among the finalists, Barça once again have a realistic chance of producing the winner. The decision will be made by an international jury of 50 journalists from leading European publications, with the winner expected to be announced in Turin in November.
