Gyokeres scores again in Sweden win

Viktor Gyokeres made it two goals in two games during the international break as he guided Sweden to a 3-1 victory over Poland.

After scoring the winner against Romania in the opening game of their UEFA Nations League group, our number 14 netted the third goal in the win over Poland in Solna.

Viktor peeled off to the back post to tap home Patrik Walemark's cross, sending Sweden to the top of their group and in a strong position to get promoted to League A.

Sweden are two points clear of Bosnia & Herzegovina, who they face next on Friday, October 2, in Zenica.

Nation Pl GD PTS

1 Sweden 2 +3 6

2 Bosnia 2 +2 4

3 Poland 2 -2 1

4 Romania 2 -3 0

Elsewhere, Riccardo Calafiori was an unused substitute as Italy picked up three points with a 4-1 win over Turkiye in Bursa.

Alessandro Bastoni, Davide Frattesi, Michael Kayode and Pio Esposito scored the goals to give Roberto Mancini his first win back in charge of the Azzurri.

The result puts Calafiori's nation on three points, level with second-place Belgium and three points behind France, who top the group thanks to a 1-0 victory in Brussels. Italy will face Les Bleus on Friday night in Paris.

Ceadach O'Neill was an unused substitute in Northern Ireland's 0-0 draw with Hungary in Belfast. After coming on late in the 1-0 victory over Georgia, our young attacker watched on as Northern Ireland maintained their unbeaten start to their Nations League group.
