U21s preview: Leyton Orient v Arsenal

2026-09-15 · Connor Booth

Our young Gunners take on the League One side in the EFL Trophy

Our under-21s face League One side Leyton Orient in the second game of our EFL Trophy campaign on Tuesday night (7.45pm UK).

We've taken two points from our first four games in all competitions, drawing with Crystal Palace and Premier League 2 champions Brighton, between defeats to Barnet and Chelsea.

With two games left to put points on the board, we'll be looking to get our first victory of the season and put ourselves back in the mix for a spot in the knockout stages of the EFL Trophy.

THE OPPOSITION

The O's come into Tuesday's tie in need of a win; having thrashed Bromley 5-0 just two weeks ago, Leyton Orient are without a win in their last three games, conceding seven and crashing out of the Carabao Cup in the process.

Goals have come at both ends in games involving the League One side so far this season, with a combined 21 goals in their six matches this season; our first three league games have had a similar total with 11.

In their first EFL Trophy game of the season, Orient scored a stoppage-time equaliser to take AFC Wimbledon to penalties, before winning the shoot-out to go second in the group on two points.

Our last trip to Brisbane Road was a successful one, as Ismeal Kabia netted a second-half winner in the 2024 group stages to secure a 2-1 victory.
