Lotte focused on how to become more clinical

Lotte Wubben-Moy says she and her teammates will be taking a moment to reflect on how to be more clinical in front of goal following Sunday’s 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace.

Asked for her take on a game in which we produced so many chances but were unable to break the deadlock, Lotte said: “I think first and foremost, when you're unable to do the fans justice, who came out today and supported us from minute one to minute 90, that really hurts, not only on a psychological level but I think also pretty deep when it comes to how much we put out into the game today.

“A lot of us dug deep, but ultimately it amounts to nothing. We come away with losing points. That's not what we expect for doing it at our home here in the Emirates, so that's really tough to take.

“But I think looking at it pragmatically, we created the chances and ultimately just weren't able to put them away. That's something quite, I don't know, clear cut, you can change that easily. I believe in the strength of the team and the depth that we've got that we can push each other to come back and score more.”

We were relentless in our pursuit of that goal, but Palace continued to deny us defensively.

“I think credit to Palace,” Lotte agreed. “They put their bodies on the line. I think there were quite a few shots that came off the crossbar and just over. We can't say to ourselves, ‘oh, we didn't shoot enough’, because we did.

“Shots from the edge of the box, even creating one or two chances in the six-yard box, we had those chances too. I think it's a moment for us to reflect and look at how we can be much more clinical.”

Lotte added this she’ll want the place rocking for next weekend’s visit of Manchester United.

“Without a doubt, and I don't even think I need to say that because it just always happens. It's such a pleasure to play here in front of our fans. Yeah, they're just wonderful. I know all the new girls felt that energy today. I never take it for granted, so I feel that every week too.”
