Renée Slegers and her team are under no illusions about their efforts in Sunday’s 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace.
We pushed and pushed for the opening goal at Emirates Stadium, but were ultimately unable to make the breakthrough.
Reflecting on a frustrating draw in N5, our head coach said: “Disappointed of course, we were here to take three points. That’s what we were set to do, that’s what we expect from ourselves. We weren’t successful from that perspective, and that’s the most important, the result.
“Yes, there were really good things in our performance, some real positives. I think we had around 30 shots and plenty of box entries, but the ball didn’t go into the net, so we’re critical of ourselves.
“We will bring things that we did well today into next weekend. Of course, critical and disappointed of not getting the three points today.”
This match was as much about patience and perseverance as anything else, as we pummelled Palace with 30 shots, never slowing down our relentless pursuit of a goal.
But the Eagles stood firm to keep us at bay.
“Like I said, there’s a lot of good things in our football,” Renée said. “The variety of attacks that we set up, how we were intent and wanted to keep the tempo high in the game.
“From a mentality perspective, we kept going, we didn’t stop believing. So, there’s positives, but also very aware that we wanted and needed to get the three points today. Sorry for the supporters and we’ll do everything to be better next weekend.”
