U21s preview: Arsenal v Chelsea
2026-09-11 · Connor Booth
Our Premier League 2 campaign continues with a London derby against the Blues

Our under-21s take on Chelsea in a Premier League 2 London derby on Saturday afternoon at Mangata Developments Stadium (2pm UK).
A solid start to the season has seen us take draws from each of our first two games against defending champions Brighton and last season's play-off quarter-finalists Crystal Palace.
As well as our positive start in PL2, several of our under-21s squad were involved in our 2-1 win over Napoli in our UEFA Youth League opener on Wednesday afternoon, a game which saw Luis Munoz strike a stoppage-time winner.
THE OPPOSITION
While Chelsea's under-21s reached the play-off quarter-finals themselves last time around, the Blues' under-18s side won the U18s Premier League, with some players from that side since moving up to the PL2 set-up.
After a surprise defeat to Bournemouth in their opening game, Chelsea battled to a 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers before beating the League Two side on penalties in their opening EFL Trophy game.
The young Blues then registered their first league win of the season in sensational style, scoring in the 89th and 92nd minutes to beat West Ham 5-4 in what was comfortably the game of the PL2 season so far.
HOW TO FOLLOW
As with all Premier League 2 fixtures, entry to Saturday's game at Mangata Developments Stadium is free, and with our first team clash at Sunderland not getting underway until 8pm, get down to the ground for your Saturday afternoon helping of football.
For those who can't make it to the ground, live updates will be available on our Academy's X account, with a full match report, highlights and interviews with head coach David Horseman and one of our young Gunners available after the game.
