Baum reacts to incredible winning goal

As debut goals go, they don't come much better than Lisa Baum's winner against Brighton on the opening weekend of the Women's Super League.

The German teenager, starting on the left, rifled her effort in off the crossbar in front of our travelling support to give us all three points at Broadfield Stadium.

So what does it feel like to score on your first Arsenal appearance? Lisa has the insight.

"I'm just happy that we have three points and won the game. And of course, to score on the debut, I'm just even happier.

"I just received the ball in the middle and then I just carried on and dribbled and then I just looked for the opportunity to shoot in the top corner, so I just took it in and scored."

And celebrating in front of our travelling support? She said: "It's really insane. It was so loud and my teammates were with me, so it's just even better."

Having grown up playing football in Germany, Lisa made the move from Leipzig to north London this summer. Having played her first 63 minutes of WSL football, the winger compared playing in her homeland and England.

She said: "I think it's quite a different level. Just intensity, time, you don't have a lot of time anymore. But I think you adapt quite well and the more games we play, the better it's going to be. So I'm just happy to be here and help us for the next wins or next games.

"Brighton did a good job of defending us, and to attack us as well. But I'm just happy, I think I settled in quite well. Everybody was so nice to me."

Lisa can look forward to her home debut in front of a big crowd as we play at Emirates Stadium next weekend against Crystal Palace.

"I'm very excited to play at Emirates in front of even more fans. Can't wait, I'm looking forward to it!"
