Élisa De Almeida signs for Arsenal

We’re delighted to announce the signing of Élisa De Almeida on a permanent deal.

The 28-year-old defender joins us from French side Paris Saint-Germain, where she made 154 appearances and scored three goals across a five-year spell.

“I'm so excited to join Arsenal,” said Élisa. “This is a very big club and I can’t wait to get started. I grew up watching Arsenal and seeing French players wear this jersey, so I’m proud to take this step. I’m looking forward to playing in front of our supporters and experiencing the special atmosphere they have created.”

Born in Châtenay-Malabry, France, on 11 January 1998, Élisa made her senior debut for Paris FC aged 18 in 2016, making 38 appearances across two seasons in the French capital. A move to Montpellier followed in 2019, with Elisa making 31 appearances and scoring three goals as she continued to develop as a defender, earning her first senior France cap in October 2019.

Élisa joined Paris Saint-Germain in July 2021, helping the team to win the Coupe de France trophy in her first season with the club. Another Coupe de France title followed in the 2023/24 season, with Élisa cementing her reputation as a reliable, composed operator at the back.

An experienced France international, Élisa has made 52 appearances and scored three goals for the national team. She represented her country at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and was part of the France side that finished as runners-up in the 2024 UEFA Nations League.

Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley, said: “We’re delighted to have brought Élisa to the club. She’s a highly experienced and versatile centre-back who will strengthen our backline and add further depth ahead of an exciting season ahead.”

Head Coach Renée Slegers added: “We’re very pleased to add Élisa to our squad. Her composure, mobility and experience are all strengths and I look forward to working with her on the training pitch.”

Élisa will wear the No. 5 jersey here at Arsenal and join up with her new team mates immediately.
