U18s preview: Arsenal v Southampton

Our young Gunners look to bounce back against Southampton when they continue their U18 Premier League South campaign on Saturday, September 5.

The match will take place at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, with kick-off scheduled for 1pm (UK time).

Yet to claim a win from their opening three games, our under-18s’ only point so far came in a goalless draw with West Bromwich Albion on the opening day.

Last weekend, despite taking the lead away at Brighton and Hove Albion through Abraham Owusu-Gyasi’s second-half finish, the Seagulls fought back to win 2-1.

THE OPPOSITION

After finishing seventh last term, the Saints have made a perfect start to the new season, winning all three games and averaging five goals scored per match.

In August, the south coast side hit four past both Brentford and Crystal Palace, before an eleven-goal thriller against Norwich City ended in a 7-4 victory a week ago.

The high-scoring outfit have also been placed in Group D of the U18 Premier League Cup, alongside Brentford, Manchester City and Burnley, with their opening tie against the Clarets set for next month.

We last faced the Hampshire side in January, narrowly losing 1-0 at the Staplewood Training Ground after Thierry Rohart-Brown found the net early in the second half.
